Political Press Release number 10

Right and Left do not exist. What exists is a business group. Italy is its business. Our taxes are its revenue. The media are its voice. Good and bad journalists do not exist. What exists is regime information. It’s only an issue of nuances between l'Unità and il Giornale, between Tg1 and Tg5. Journalists don’t exist. What exist are people who have the courage to display the truth and they become heroes, stars, citizens with bodyguards. People who write, speak and communicate exist. They are called men and women. What exists is the natural order of those who know how to read, to write, to speak and who use these abilities to describe the world. No one is a journalist. We are all journalists. On the internet we are all journalists. The newspapers and the TV are the past. V2 day has demonstrated that information is on the Internet. The film clips of the cities that participated in V2 day are on the Internet. Hundreds of witness statements of V2 day in Piazza San Carlo are on the Internet. The number of signatures collected in total for the three referenda is about 1,500,000. It has never happened in the history of the Republic in such a short time. For each referendum, 500,000 signatures are needed. For the whole month of May, the collection of signatures will continue with the signing tables. We need as big a number as possible to have a safety margin. In July 2008, Beppe Grillo will deliver the signatures to the Court of Cassation. Information in Italy can no longer be reformed. It has gone into metastasis in the Board of Directors of the banks and the industrial firms, in the press offices of the parties and the gentile salons. New information on the Internet needs creating. On 25 April the partisans of information came out into the streets. On 25 April even Asphalt Head came out with Ciarrapico. Guess who are the ones preferred by Topo Gigio, of the PD doc (whose origin is controlled) and their newspapers. We are all Don Peppone and we are all Don Camillo. You can’t rewrite history, but you can create the future, invent it. The truth is our future. Let’s keep the flame alight.

Political Press Release number 9

Grillo_Villa.jpg

In a few days, a single person will have control of 6 national TV channels. The seventh will be in franchising as it is now. The Voice of the People (called Asphalt Head) will be the future President of the Council. For the citizen it will change nothing. Information was of the regime before and it will be afterwards as well. But it’ll be in a homogeneous way, without posing embarrassing problems of subtle imperceptible comparison between the servant doc Fede and the servant dop Riotta. A single voice a multitude of ears. A guitar of Apicella at Porto Rotondo and a hundred servile journalists. A moon at Marechiaro and the statue of the Madonna in Milan. Montaneli and Biagi under a tombstone. The Italian is like a budgerigar in a cage. He’s frightened of liberty. He’s used to not knowing the truth about Borsellino’s death. About Italicus and about Piazza Fontana. About the G8 in Genoa and about incinerators. He wants to believe with all his might that the pluri-president of the Council Andreotti was absolved and not “prescritto” for mafia dealing. The TV Italian imagines a new Parliament made up of good people. Not of convicts and people on remand. Those who control information win. Those who suffer it, loose. A virtual world becomes reality, delinquents become senators and deputies. It’s all true, it’s all false. The one who shouts the loudest gets the cow. On 25 April we are liberated from nazi-fascism. 63 years later we can liberate ourselves from the fascism of information. It’s more difficult than it was then. It’s no longer rifle against rifle, hand grenade against armoured tank. The battle is between consciences that have gone to sleep and the freedom of thought, between those who no longer want to fly and those who cannot renounce the sky. On 25 April we can change the country. We have the duty to do it for our children and for our conscience. The liberty of information cannot offer discounts. Three referenda for freedom of information in a free state: abolition of Mussolini’s Order of Journalists, elimination of a billion euro a year public financing of publishing, abolition of the Gasparri law and the duopoly Parties-Mediaset (shortly to be Mediaset-Mediaset). In 400 Italian cities signatures will be collected. In tens of foreign cities there will be information about the control of the media in Italy. Music, bicycles, festivals and signs of peace. A new Renaissance. After so much shit, for Italy it is a duty. On 25 April, Beppe Grillo will be in Turin for a non-stop in Piazza San Carlo. From 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm. So many free voices will fill Turin with words of hope. Coraggio! PS In Genoa on 25 April, from 9:00 am till 11:00 pm in Piazza della Vittoria, V2 DAY will go on normally. The morning will be devoted to "Fronte del Porto" with speeches by workers and the projection of the documentary film: "De Ma". In the afternoon and evening apart from a live broadcast from Turin, there will be different speeches including: Marco Preve journalist with la Repubblica, Marco Menduni and Bruno Lugaro, journalists with Il Secolo XIX, Asia Ostertag a justice collaborator.

The Stephansdom (Cathedral of Saint Stephen), in Vienna, Austria, is the seat of a Roman Catholic Archbishop, a beloved symbol of Vienna, and the site of many important events in Austria's national life. The cathedral was first built as a parish church, in 1147, and rebuilt and enlarged over the centuries, with major new work concluding in 1511, although repair and restoration have continued from the beginning to the present day.

The towns involved on 25 April

V2-day_Milano.jpg
Click the image

You are all Beppe Grillo. Use your brains. Take this Country in hand. It is your Country. Don’t abdicate from your rights. Information is a right. It has been taken away from you. That is why we are this state. Only through freedom of information will Italy once again become the free, beautiful and splendid Country that it was during the Renaissance. I believe this and so should you.
The 25th April is an opportunity for us to tell the parties, the banks, Confindustria and Tar-head that, in Italy, it is the citizens that call the shots. That information must serve the interests of democracy, not those of the people in power. The parties have never introduced a law banning conflicts of interest. Ask yourself why this is. For love and charity? Or perhaps because if there were to be true freedom of information, ALL, and I mean ALL of them would all have disappeared the very next day to avoid having the Italians giving them a kicking up the arse.
Up with the heart. On 25 April, signatures will be collected in 400 Italian towns to back up a call for a number of referendums to be held regarding calling for freedom of information in a free State. No to the corporate order of journalists, to the public financing of the press to the tune of one billion Euro a year, to the Gasparri Law concerning radio and television broadcasting. 400 Towns full of music, information and young and old people getting together for a day of celebration. Take one of the red pills on 25 April. Look for your town on the list.

@@@@@ MILK HISTORY AND EVOLUTIONS @@@@@@@

Not everyone agrees that milk should be part of the human diet after infancy. The argument is made that just as all other species drink no milk after weaning, neither should we, especially that of another species. Many adults have difficulty digesting pasteurized milk, and allergies to pasteurized milk products are common. While this lends credence to arguments against milk, such reactions are usually due to pasteurization itself and the poor quality of conventionally produced milk and milk products. While for some individuals genetic influences play a role, for most the body's reaction to milk depends largely upon the quality and state of the particular milk used.

The Swiss of the Loetschental Valley were one of the few native groups Weston Price studied that used milk (the others were certain African tribes, including the Masai). The Valley people used raw, whole milk, both fresh and cultured, cheese, and butter, all in substantial quantities. The milk was from healthy, grass-fed animals and was used unpasteurized and unhomogenized. Such foods clearly can play a major role in a health-building program for the individual genetically enabled to utilize these foods well. They are a rich source of fat-soluble vitamins A and D and other crucial nutrients in short supply in diets lacking in high quality animal fats. (Contrary to popular opinion, liberal amounts of animal fats, particularly from grass-fed animals, are essential for good health and resistance to disease.)

Yet we could attain optimal health without dairy foods. Price discovered groups with complete resistance to dental decay and chronic disease using no dairy foods; their diets invariably included other rich sources of animal fats, calcium, and other minerals. The soft ends of long bones were commonly chewed, and the shafts and other bones were used in soups.

Modern medicine has discovered the importance of a substantial intake of calcium. Several recent studies have linked high blood pressure and other problems with chronic subclinical calcium deficiency, including increased incidence of colon and prostate cancers in men and osteoporosis and osteoarthritis in both men and women. Paradoxically, other problems are associated with high consumption of dairy foods; this has not gone unnoticed by researchers, nutritionists, and nutrition minded physicians. The importance of the quality and freshness of milk products lies behind the paradox. This concept has not been considered in attempts by today's medical community to explain the health effects of dairy foods.

Domesticated animals were first used for milk eight to ten thousand years ago, as a genetic change effecting mostly people in Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa enabled them to digest milk as adults. Milk from domesticated animals then began to become important as a human food. With domestication and settlement, fewer wild animals were available; as groups of people roamed less, they hunted less, eating more grains and vegetables. In some cultures, milk replaced animal bones as the chief source of calcium and some other minerals.
In indigenous cultures where adults used milk, often it was used as cultured or clabbered milk. This is similar to homemade raw yogurt, and it is partially predigested-much of the lactose (milk sugar) has been broken down by bacterial action. This process must be accomplished over a period of several hours in the stomach when one drinks fresh milk; yogurt or clabbered milk is much more easily digested than fresh milk.

Adaptations in evolution are always the effects of particular causes. Humans developing the ability to digest milk into adulthood possessed a survival advantage; such change is the basis of evolution. Put simply, many human beings evolved the ability to easily digest raw milk because raw milk from healthy, grass-fed animals gave them an adaptive advantage; it made them stronger and more able to reproduce. Such milk remains a wonderful food that provides us with fat-soluble nutrients, calcium, and other minerals that are by and large in short supply in the modern diet.

In alto i cuori. @@@ENJOYING VIENNA @@@@

Enjoying Vienna

Rustling newspapers, freshly baked pastries, speedy waiters and the Viennese Melange (milky coffee) with the typical glass of water: Up until today the Viennese coffee houses stamp the shape of the life style in the city of Vienna. Just as steeped in tradition and atmosphere are of course the “Heurigen” on the outskirts of Vienna , where you can enjoy Viennese wine (!), the hearty Viennese kitchen and music. In addition to which are the "culinary districts" , like the Spittelberg, the particularly attractive Naschmarkt, the Bermuda triangle in the city center, Museumsquartier and old AKH( Generall Hospital ), the new restaurants under the metropolitan railway at the Gürtel and many, many more. Not to forget the numerous Viennese Beisln (Pub's) and restaurants - from cozy to hip, from civil to luxurious, from Viennese to international.

@BEPPE GRILLO'S BLOG - WITHOUT FREEDOM OF INFORMATION...@@@

Political Press Release number seven

beppe_churchill.jpg

Without freedom of information there’s no democracy. If information becomes the tool of private interests and of the parties, there’s no democracy. If Asphalt Head has three national TV channels and 40 newspapers and magazines, there’s no democracy. If the parties have control of the RAI there’s no democracy. The non vote is a vote. The non vote is the vote of informed citizens. If election referenda are cancelled by Calderoli or postponed by Napolitano, there’s no democracy. If 350,000 signatures for three popular laws are festering in a cellar in the Senate, there’s no democracy. If we can’t vote for a candidate, there’s no democracy. If Cuffaro, Crisafulli, Carra, Dell’Utri, and Cesa are already elected to Parliament, there’s no democracy. If after the rigged elections there are 100 people who have been convicted at the first level, the second level or definitively or on remand, representing us, there’s no democracy. If the newspapers receive a billion euro a year in public financing, there’s no democracy. If Rete 4 doesn’t move to satellite after the verdict of the European Court of Justice, there’s no democracy. If Ms Bonino has no urgency to apply the European verdict on Rete 4 and she declares this with no shame, there’s no democracy. If Bossi can threaten the State with rifles, there’s no democracy. If the parties take the mafia votes, there’s no democracy. If Bassolino is President of the Campania Region, there’s no democracy. Without the freedom of information, it’s not possible to choose. Citizens have the right to be informed. Without this right there’s no democracy. Citizens have the right to be represented by gentlemen. Without this right there’s no democracy. On 10 April, Beppe Grillo will be in Pescara to support the civic list for the local elections. Beppe Grillo is not supporting any national list for the national elections. The Rome Tribunal has prohibited the use of the name and the image of Beppe Grillo for the lists “Grilli parlanti” and “No Euro – Lista del Grillo”. The TV channels and the newspapers cannot promote these lists. The TV presenters cannot promote these lists. Beppe Grillo invites you to read the verdict of the Tribunal. Support the civic lists in your cities and the regional list of Sonia Alfano in Sicily. The renewal of the Country starts with the towns and the Regions. The renewal starts with the young people. Freedom starts with the freedom of information. V2 Day - 25 April

@@@@@@@@@@@@ I LOVE GERANIUMS @@@

Pelargonium is a genus of flowering plants which includes about 200

species of perennial, succulent, and shrub plants, commonly known

as geraniums. Confusingly, Geranium is the correct botanical name

of the separate genus which contains the related Cranesbills.

Both genera are in the Family Geraniaceae. Linnaeus originally

included all the species in one genus, Geranium, but they were later

separated into two genera by Charles L’Héritier in 1789. Gardeners

sometimes refer to the members of Genus Pelargonium as "pelargoniums"

in order to avoid the confusion, but the older common name "geranium"

is still in regular use.

Species

About 200:
Pelargonium graveolens
Pelargonium radens
Pelargonium scabrum
Pelargonium cotyledonis
Pelargonium triste

Pelargonium

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Horticultural pelargoniums (as opposed to botanical, the wild 'species')

fall into six major groups, with zonals subdivided further:

  • Angel
  • Ivy-leaved = hanging
  • Regal (or Royal) = French
  • Shrubby-leaved
  • Unique
  • Zonal - erect and bushy
    • Cactus-flowered
    • Deacon (mostly dwarfs, cf. infra)
    • Double-flowered
    • Fancy-leaved
    • Formosum hybrid
    • Rosebud
    • Tulip-flowered
    • Single-flowered
    • Stellar
    • Straight Zonals
    • It is also usual to classify small Zonals alternatively by size or odorous excellence :
      • Dwarfs (small)
      • Miniatures (even smaller)
      • Parfum-leaved

Scaricate il brano musicale "V Day (2.0)"

V Day (2.0) – Leo Pari, Piotta, Radici nel Cemento

Il 25 di Aprile ci dobbiamo riunire,
c'è ancora molto da fare e ancora molto da dire.
È passato l'inverno, è caduto il governo
l'Italia è diventata un inferno.

RIT:

Onorevole, onorevole

RIT:

e avanza compatta gridando basta
senti cosa dice? Andatevene affa.
A chi ruba, a chi ammassa e così fa cassa,

@@@@@@@@@ Time.com's First Annual Blog Index

Blog di Beppe Grillo

Beppe Grillo, a popular Italian comedian, actor, and political satirist, writes one of the few non-English language blogs that's become wildly popular worldwide. That's because Grillo speaks the international language of outrage. On a typical day, Grillo's blog may call for Germany to declare war on Italy, or failing that, for Italy to boycott the upcoming Olympic Games in China, or for a prominent politician to stop acting like a "Psycho-dwarf." Most of the outrage has a political point — the Beppe blog features a regularly updated list of members of the Italian Parliament who have been convicted, and frequently calls for tainted politicians to resign from office. Last September, Grillo used his blog to rally marchers in nearly 300 Italian towns for his "Fuck Off Day," to encourage citizens to forcibly remove from office members of the Italian Parliament who have criminal convictions. The rally was such a hit that a second round is planned for April 25th. America could use a political satirist fueled by this sort of outrage, but for now, there's Beppe.

Sample Beppe Grillo post: Italy must not participate at the Peking Olympics. The Olympic games are tainted by the blood of the Tibetans. For decades now the slitty-eyes have been inflicting a mini-holocaust on these people, but the West has continued to look the other way. Say No to the bloodstained Olympics.

@@@@@ GORGEOUS LAKE COMO @@@@@

Villa Vincenzo is one of the most beautiful villas on Lake Como, owned for centuries by the most important Italian aristocratic families. It is located 3 km north of Cernobbio (between the famous Villa d'Este Hotel and George Clooney's villa). Restaurants and shops are within walking distance.

The villa was redesigned by the famous architect Felice Soavi and frescoed by Andrea Appiani. From 1829 to 1833 it was the residence of the famous composer Vincenzo Bellini who composed his work "La Sonnambula" at the villa. The ceilings in the main living areas as well as the bedrooms are ornately decorated and painted. The floors are a beautiful mixture of Cotto Lombardo, Seminato, and dark antique wood. The villa is filled with beautiful paintings, sculptures, rugs, tapestries and Venetian chandeliers. Perfect for large parties, the property is surrounded by spectacular Italian-style gardens that include a large swimming pool with unobstructed views of the lake.

The Estate is made up of an expansive main villa, and a large guest house located in a separate area of the property and completely independent from the main villa. The entire property was painstakingly restored and renovated in 2002 with detailed attention given to every room and feature. The main villa occupies three floors: The ground floor which is dedicated to the living and reception areas - The Formal Dining Room is an oval shaped room with 16 marble columns. The most important fresco in the villa sits above the dining room table. It was painted by Andrea Appiani who was Europe’s foremost neoclassical artist at the turn of the 19th century. The Tuscan Dining Room is more casual and filled with period Tuscan furniture. Here there is a separate sitting area with marble fireplace and television for relaxing and enjoying the views. On the same level there are two beautiful fully-equipped professional kitchens. The kitchens are large and airy with Subzero refrigerators and wine coolers, Viking and Gaggeneau ovens, grills and ranges, 4 disposals, 2 dish washers, a vegetable and fish steamer and a fryer. The counter tops are made of Verona marble and the cabinetry is richly decorated hand-carved wood. The most prominent feature of each kitchen is an eight foot high stone fireplace that are original to the villa and bear the family emblem. Also on the ground floor are two beautiful dens with computers and internet connections. One is fitted with mahogany cabinetry. There is a Billiard Room with a hand-carved English snooker table. For nights when guests want to stay in, there is a cinema with a large screen and cinema-quality sound system. The cinema houses one of the villa’s most incredible fireplaces and an exquisite mahogany bar.

@@@@ Positive psychology research perspectives @@@@@ SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA

Theoretical framework

In his book Authentic Happiness, Martin Seligman, one of the founders of Positive psychology, describes happiness as consisting of 'positive emotions' and 'positive activities'.

He further categorizes emotions related to the past, present and future. Positive emotions relating to the past include satisfaction, contentment, pride and serenity. Positive emotions relating to the future include optimism, hope and trust. Positive emotions about the present are divided into two categories: pleasure and gratifications. The bodily and higher pleasures are "pleasures of the moment" and usually involve some external stimulus.

Gratifications involve full engagement, flow, elimination of self-consciousness, and blocking of felt emotions. But when a gratification comes to an end then positive emotions will be felt. Gratifications can be obtained or increased by developing 'signature strengths' and virtues. Authenticity is the derivation of gratification and positive emotions from exercising signature strengths. The good life comes from using 'signature strengths' to obtain abundant gratification in, for example, enjoying work and creative activities. The most profound sense of happiness is experienced through the 'meaningful life', achieved if one exercises one's uniques strengths and virtues in a purpose greater than one's own immediate goals.

Worldwide happiness findings

The Satisfaction with Life Index is an attempt to show the average self-reported happiness (subjective life satisfaction) in different nations. This is an example of recent trend to use direct measures of happiness, such as surveys asking people how happy they are, as an alternative to traditional measures of policy success to GDP or GNP. There are also several other examples of measures that includes self-reported happiness as one variable. Happy Life Years, a concept brought by Dutch sociologist Veenhoven, combines self-reported happiness with life expectancy. The Happy Planet Index combines it with life expectancy and ecological footprint. Gross national happiness is a concept introduced by the King of Bhutan as an alternative to GDP but there is as yet no exact definition.

The Rome Tribunal has prohibited the use of my name and my image by the lists for the national elections that appropriated these without the right. The lists “must cease every use, in any form and mode, the name and the image of Beppe Grillo and every reference to him and in particular they must abstain from identifying the political activity of these lists by the use of symbols, graphic elements and writing that can be connected directly or indirectly to the person who has made this request” For the details, read the verdict.
The lists cited in the verdict are: "Amici di Beppe Grillo", "No Euro - Lista del Grillo","Movimento ultima speranza - Grilli d'Italia", "Forza Grillo", "Lista Grilli Parlanti" and "Grilli d'Italia".
The national elections are unconstitutional. We cannot choose the candidate and not even the programme. They are just a pretext to form the Veltrusconi government. The general dress rehearsals for the mess ups are in front of our eyes. The Maroni law (number 30) is what they both want. The Gasparri law is what they both want (they can’t stand the Gentiloni law). The conflict of interests, the same. The “ad personam” laws likewise.
This election law, a true expropriation of democracy, is what is wanted by both Asphalt Head and Topo Gigio. The Centre Left has had almost two years available to them to change it. It has done nothing. Not just Cuffaro and Dell'Utri will be re-elected “but also” Carra, Crisafulli, D'Alema, Fassino (4 terms of office) and his wife Serafini (5 terms of office). Parliament’s diamond couple. They even choose the same testimonials: “precarious workers” “but also” industrialists. Uncensored folk, “but also” those with a criminal record. After the elections Veltrusconi will cut out the Lega and Antonio Di Pietro and make a single party. PD and PDL will become PDuequadro {P2 squared}. The evolution of the P2. They’ll give the party card number 1 to Topo Gigio, the psycho-dwarf will give his old card number 1816, a gift from Licio Gelli. The next elections will be simpler. The elections of the perfect swindle. The non vote is the only useful vote.
In the name of the Italian people, I would like to ask for 300,000 euro a day, starting from January 1 2006 for the Radical Party. It is the fine that we will pay for not having applied the European verdict for assigning the frequencies from Rete4 to Europa 7 at the last Council of Ministers. Minister Emma Bonino, Mother Teresa of Confindustria, has in fact declared that the verdict “did not have an urgent character”.

@@@@@@ CHARLTON HESTON @@@@@@@ GOD BLESS YOU @@@@

Charlton Heston (October 4, 1923April 5, 2008)[1][2][3] was an American Academy Award-winning film actor.

Heston was known for playing heroic roles, such as Moses in The Ten Commandments, Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes and Judah Ben-Hur in Ben-Hur. Early in his career, he was one of a handful of Hollywood actors to speak out against racism and was active in the civil rights movement. During the latter part of his movie career, he starred in films such as The Omega Man and Soylent Green, which have a strong environmental message. He was president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003.

Information March!

marcia_animata_ENG.gif
The march of Italian citizens towards the future is peaceful. Slow, unstoppable, contagious, joyful like Bartali’s eyes, in a song by Paolo Conte. It’s transmitted by means of an information virus. The informed citizen participates in the Truth Olympics. The disinformed citizen can only watch it on the TV.
The march for the freedom of information in a free State has already started on the Internet. It’s like Mao’s Long March, Ghandi’s Salt March. Each one can choose his own image, his own message and together with another hundred thousand citizens, take part in the demonstration online to free Italy from the straitjacket of the masked censorship of information. Power has control of the media. Power has the power BECAUSE it has the control of the media. If citizens take back the control of the media, democracy in Italy will be re-established. This is why we are marching.
It’s spring. Open up the windows of your mind. Think. Rediscover the pleasure of thinking on your own. Take a breath and look at the sky. It can even be blue with swallows. Let’s go back to being the Bel Paese {Beautiful Country}. Why not? Everything is possible, even getting free of the class of parasites that occupy politics and information. When you march in the V2 Day march, exchange signs of peace with your neighbours on the march. It’s full of friendly people.
Sign up to the march and in your blog, put the banner with your position.
One day you will be able to say: “I was there, so long ago, when Italy was still a regime.”

Promised vote: Marco Travaglio

travaglio2.jpg
In recent days I have received many promised votes in favour of the Italia dei Valori party.
Here is one from Marco Travaglio.
"Two years ago I voted for the Italia dei Valori party, mainly because their candidate for my Piemonte was Franca Rame, an extraordinary person who, I am pleased to say, I contributed to sending to the Senate. I honestly think that this time around I will again be voting for Antonio Di Pietro’s party. I have taken note of all the objections raised by the party’s critics, inter alia, the paternalistic and personal management style of the party, which has been abandoned by some, the unseemly act of letting the party rent offices in a building owned by none other than Di Pietro, the nomination of candidates such as Sergio De Gregorio and Federica Rossi Gasparrini, who then promptly left the IdV party just a few months after being elected, Di Pietro’s commitment, as Minister for Infrastructure, to the TAV (High-speed Train) project for goods from the Valsusa (albeit after having discussed the issue with the area’s residents, including discussions regarding a possible alternative route to the infamous, 54Km “hole” at Venaus); the decision not to close down the “Stretto di Messina” company, notwithstanding the repeated objections against the bridge project, and his “no” to the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the G8 affair (something sacrosanct in my opinion, given that parliamentary commissions of inquiry in Italy have a history of muddying the waters and getting in the way of the magisterial investigations. His objection, however, was somewhat clumsily justified by his request that the so-called “Black block” also be investigated, almost as if Parliament should concern itself with crimes committed by common citizens). To make myself perfectly clear, I would much rather vote for an Einaudi or a De Gasperi if they were still alive. However, in anticipation of someone of that calibre managing to get into politics, I believe that abstention – by which I have been sorely tempted for some time – would land up playing directly into the hands of the castes, or the clan. A non-vote, even if practiced on a large scale, means absolutely nothing to the party bureaucracy. Even if there were only three voters in total, the parties would share them out percentage-wise in order to separate the winner from the vanquished. Without giving a damn for the absentees who, in the final analysis, are always in the wrong. Therefore, I think that we need to be realistic, not by voting for the “least bad”, but by voting for the party that we believe is less far away from our own desires.
What has convinced me to vote for the Idv party is Di Pietro’s nomination lists, which include a number of people with values, some of which are my friends, from MicroMega, from the girotondi and that have, in recent years, fought in the battle for legality and freedom of information. I will mention one in particular.

A clear justice policy

politica_giudiziaria.jpg

Right now, those of us in Italia dei Valori are not dealing with the issue, nor are we worried about the question of who will take charge of one Ministry rather than another. Veltroni has simply given an indication of what could be possibilities for me.

As regards the policies relating to justice, everyone can accept that Italia dei Valori has been formed from the experience of “Mani Pulite” to indicate a series of precise policies relating to justice, getting rid of the “ad personam” laws, increasing the financial resources relating to security and justice, reduction in the duration of trials, increase in the number of personnel in the justice system, increase in the police forces.
So, why should Italia dei Valori, that has such a clear justice policy, cause fear to anyone, even if it were to take on the role of Minister of Justice?
Berlusconi has already said that just the idea that I, with my past history, could go to the Ministry of Justice is horrifying for him. But I understand him. Once I discovered his activities, and today, if I were to be in that Ministry, as the first action I would deal with the shameful laws that he did so as to avoid his friends getting put on trial. I would pass a law that prevents convicted criminals to be candidates. And thus this would mean that his collaborators, the ones who paid the bribes to the Guardia di Finanza, in relation to checking the taxes of his companies, could not continue to be candidates to Parliamentary seats.
I would deal with this and I invite the citizens to think about and to tackle this way of doing politics for personal interests that this gentleman is carrying on.

I am worried that everything we are doing could be for some of our allies, certainly not for Veltroni, a motive to put obstacles in the path of Italia dei Valori. On the other hand, in the programme of the Democratic Party, we of Italia dei Valori have signed up to a very clear pact that the justice policy of the reformist model, that has Veltroni as the candidate for premier, is and must be something that is completely different from the “ad personam” laws that Berlusconi did.
We believe that action for Italia dei Valori’s justice policy should be if anything put on a pedestal and not squashed with senseless affirmations like those that people have said: “It’s best that Di Pietro doesn’t become Minister of Justice.” I haven’t asked for the position and someone should explain to me why ever should it not be possible.
Certainly not because I don’t know how the machinery of justice functions. Because if I look back to the Ministers who have had that role up until now, perhaps I have had the chance to have a bit more experience than they have had.

Exactly because of my activity as a prosecutor during “Mani Pulite”, it is the moment to say once and for all, loud and clear: the badness in our country is not and has not been the action of “Mani Pulite”, but the action of the bribe-giving, of the embezzlement, of the corruption, of illicit financing, of criminal politics that infested our governing class.
You don’t resolve problems by getting angry with the doctor who discovers an illness, but by attacking the illness and trying to make it weaker. This is what Italia dei Valori wants to do inside Parliament and in the Government in the next legislature.
